However, it’s important to say that these prices are official and kind of conditional. There are a few nuances, and I will explain them below.

What is Adventure Academy?

Adventure Academy is an app designed for kids aged 8-13, created by the same team behind the legendary ABCmouse. Their whole approach is “learning disguised as a game.” Literally everything looks like a video game. 

Kids level up their avatar, complete quests, and do activities in math, reading, geography, chemistry, and other subjects. By finishing tasks, they move to new levels and unlock different locations.

The platform is perfect for kids who are impossible to pull away from video games because here, they still play, but also learn without even noticing. I’m pretty sure it can bring good results.
But there’s also another side to this and I talk about it below in the “Parent reviews” section.

And now, let’s dive deeper into the question “How much does Adventure Academy cost?”

Adventure Academy subscription cost

As I mentioned above, the annual subscription officially costs $45.

However, after checking different reviews and parent comments about Adventure Academy pricing, I noticed something interesting. Some parents say their annual subscription was $79 because of certain personal settings or simply because they bought the app not through the website, but, for example, through the App Store. Prices there can be different.

I even tried downloading the app myself to double-check this, but sadly, it kept glitching, so I couldn’t confirm it personally.

Another thing to keep in mind – we already know the annual plan is $45, but this is only an offer for new users who get a free first month. If you decide to renew your annual subscription after a year, the price becomes $59.99. And of course, you’ll still need to pay tax on top of that (I explain more about taxes below).

However, in any case, if your child plans to use Adventure Academy long-term, the yearly plan is definitely the better deal.

If you pay monthly for 12 months, the total would be $155.88. On the other hand, with the Adventure Academy discount, an annual subscription is almost three times cheaper, just $45 for new users, and almost $60 for those who are renewing.

The same tax story applies here, too – the numbers are just a bit different. For US residents with typical tax rates, the annual subscription usually costs between $47.70 and $49.50, that’s $2.70–$4.50 extra on top of the base $45.

Is Adventure Academy free with any features?

Adventure Academy is not free. The app works only through paid subscriptions. Although one feature might be counted as “free” – the ability to use the platform with up to three kids from one account.

However, I’m not sure you can share your account with a friend on another device. This feature is mostly meant for different kids in the same family and on the same device.

Is there a way to get Adventure Academy for free?

Yes, it’s possible to get Adventure Academy for free but only for one month. So, how to get Adventure Academy for free? It’s easy: when you are a new user, the platform gives you a 30-day trial period, and after that, the payment is charged.

Additionally, I’d recommend keeping an eye on the day the charge goes through if you’re not sure you want to subscribe. According to parent reviews, the money is taken quickly, and it’s not that easy to get a refund. I’ll cover this more in the next sections of the article.

Adventure Academy reviews, complaints & positive feedback

I checked all the major review platforms to collect honest parent feedback – not just about Adventure Academy’s price, but about whether the program is actually worth it. Reviews are mixed, and I’d say the negative ones show up a bit more. But plenty of parents are happy with it, so let’s start with the positives.

Parents who enjoy the application love the idea of learning and practising through gameplay. On Common Sense, they say the game is full of helpful content, and kids like choosing what to learn and what to skip. That freedom really motivates them. That’s why some parents don’t quite understand the complaints about the game.
