Pay attention: Based on Trustpilot reviews, Brighterly only works with experienced tutors highly ranked by parents and students. The classes are interactive, with the tutor focusing only on your kid. On Brighterly, tutors create a comfortable and familiar atmosphere and assess your child’s level before customizing the program specifically for your needs.

Limited and inconvenient learning tools

During online sessions, having the right tools to engage, especially the young students, is important. Tutor.com’s tools are mostly limited to the chat and the whiteboard, which, according to some Tutor.com review messages, are not always convenient, and somewhat limit the learning program.

One prominent issue I want to address is connecting to a specific tutor whom you request. From my experience of using the Tutor.com platform, the platform is not that easy to navigate, despite the fact that I’d say it leans more towards usability than aesthetics. This, coupled with the fact that the platform is now part of The Princeton Review, another educational services company, makes it quite hard to even find the sign-up page, as it’s located on The Princeton Review website, and is only linked from the Tutor.com pricing FAQ page.

The Princeton Review website is easier to navigate. The offered courses are structured into clear categories, and the sign-up button is right there, sparing you the extensive search you would need to do on Tutor.com. I also thought that the design looks more modern, too.

What comes to the Tutor.com review, based on feedback I’ve found, the user experience has been leaning towards more negative, as there were frequent reviews complaining about the website’s usability. Compared to that, it seems like the Princeton Review team worked hard to improve its system.

The one issue I came across on Trustpilot and think is worth mentioning is that some users also reported technical difficulties with the trial test software – it does not seem to save the answers, and show the correct time. 

Rating: I am rating this feature 5/10, because from the Tutor.com website, it’s very hard to find the link to The Princeton Review, where the individual programs are offered. If I don’t take this into account, the websites are easy to navigate otherwise.

From what I found, Tutor.com used to offer a fairly traditional learning model with live, one-on-one online sessions in real time. It used to focus more on providing immediate or short-term help with homework or existing schoolwork, without building a long-term learning journey.

The Princeton Review offers a similar learning approach, but with intensive test-prep-focused courses.

If you are looking for quick help with a homework or a tutor to explain your child a certain topic, you can schedule one even on very short notice. This stays true to Tutor.com’s original promise of 24/7 tutor availability. Tutors are available for learners of all ages, from elementary to students (Trustpilot).

From the website structure and also the Princeton Review and Tutor.com reviews, I could see that the platform puts a lot of emphasis on the test prep specifically.
