Given my years of experience, I remember how demand for homeschooling increased at times and declined at others. Yet, despite that, Power Homeschool has always stayed on top of options. So, I’ve collected the most legit Power Homeschool reviews, in addition to my own experience, to create this ultimate guide for you.

• Features: 8/10. It offers a library of over 250 courses and smart tools, yet lacks live teacher interaction and peer socialization.
• Learning approach: 7/10. The mastery-based method is good for independent learners but can feel repetitive or ‘lonely’ for social kids.

Power Homeschool review: What is it?

Power Homeschool is a PreK-12 online platform that uses video-based lessons. It features a wide variety of subjects and automatic grading. Its progress tracking empowers a structured yet independent curriculum. Powerhomeschool reviews say that parents resort to it for core subjects or to help students catch up.

This learning program is designed to help parents lead their child’s education with pre-recorded video lessons. It provides a vast library of over 250 courses. Power Homeschool also offers smart tools that automatically adjust to your kid’s learning level. 

It positions itself as a parent-led curriculum. They also declare that they deliver as strong a coursework as private schools do, but at a much more affordable price point. Spoiler: I’ve deliberately looked into it when analyzing powerhomeschool.org reviews, and do have a couple of words to say about it!  

Power Homeschool strives to support both busy parents (looking for a way to simplify lesson planning) and students who thrive with self-paced learning.

Of all the hundreds of Power Homeschooling reviews I read on Trustpilot, I guess, this feature is most praised. Both parents and students do enjoy the quality of lessons, as well as how flexible they feel during learning.  

⭐ On this point, Power Homeschool has definitely earned 9/10 stars from parents (and me!)

Broad lineup of subjects

All courses here are categorized based on age. I.e., there are sections for K-5, grades 6-8, and 9-12 accordingly. Each of them contains options to fit all preferences.

⭐ The wider the choice, the more families find it useful. Hence, I rate it 7/10 stars.

Self-controlled grading

Another Power Homeschool review highlights an extra credit for personalization. Students can decide on their own whether they want to improve the grade or to further proceed with the currently earned one.  

⭐ For many students, it’s a great way to experience both independence and responsibility. So it’s a strong 8/10 ranking from me.

Missing human & live guidance

Some users report a lack of real-time and teacher guidance, both in general questions…  

… and in more particular cases.  

And I totally understand why it might be confusing for many parents. That’s why at Brighterly math and reading platform, educational guidance is a) perfectly delivered and b) done so pretty consistently. 

A price that went up fourfold ‘overnight’

It’s just one of multiple Powerschool Homeschool reviews on Trustpilot complaining about a price that jumped 4x. Even more critically perceived was the notification about it in less than 1 week in advance.    

Although your kid’s education is priceless, being able to plan your finances in that regard still matters, agree? Brighterly’s consistent pricing for the reading and math program is praised by parents on Trustpilot as they can plan expenses up front and stay composed. 

Unresponsive customer support

Even though Power Homeschool’s replies to negative user reviews on TrustPilot usually recommend checking tutorials and public instructions, more often than not, many parents still need a human response to their issue. And that’s where Power Homeschool does require improvement, users report.

The same can’t be said for Brighterly, though. Human interaction and real-time communication are among its number-one priorities. This applies to Brighterly tutors (primarily engaging with kids), as well as customer service, quickly helping parents with all (and any) questions. 

So, as you can see, an impressive library of high-quality videos along with flexible grading is something you can definitely rely on. However, Power Homeschool reviews complaints still highlight pretty important issues with guidance, prices, and communications overall.  

Reviews on Power Homeschool: What’s the learning approach?

Power Homeschool employs a mastery-based learning method. It entails that every kid can succeed if they are given the right amount of time and the right tools to master a concept. After a quick video lesson, the student jumps into interactive practice problems. That’s what I call a ‘watch and do’ flow. 

Next, is Power Homeschool accredited? No, it’s not. It’s officially a curriculum intended for independent use. However, its sister program – Acellus Academy – uses the exact same lessons and is a fully accredited private school (and its price reflects that; find details below) 

Knowledge is reinforced through low-stakes practice and ‘special lessons’ that you can assign for more practical work. Plus, to keep things moving, they also use built-in reviews and exams. Again, the self-paced approach is indeed praised by families.

⭐ Well, let it be a middle-of-the-road 7/10 stars. Although it indeed fits independent students, as well as social or hands-on learners, the screen-heavy approach might feel lonely. 

Power Homeschool curriculum review: UX & design

In my opinion, Power Homeschool’s design and usability are pretty good. It’s quite modern and user-friendly. I haven’t experienced any glitches or lagging. However, Power Homeschool reviews feature mixed results, with some families really unsatisfied.

Like, this one on TrustPilot is written by a parent who couldn’t figure out their way around the website. 

Even though negative reviews about UX/UI do appear here and there, most parents and kids still loved their experience. Like, it’s covered here (it’s easy to use even for children!)

Or, another example of a Powerhomeschool review that was totally enjoyable!

⭐I’d rate it 7/10. Critical comments weren’t one-off incidents, and many of them referred to the most recent mobile app, which replaced the desktop version. 

Therefore, it’s nice, it’s good, it’s easy to use. But shifting from desktop to mobile or starting out from scratch might still feel a bit messy.

How effective is Power Homeschool?

Power Homeschool is effective for core subjects like math and science, where video lessons are especially impressive. At the same time, some parents find it less effective for creative subjects like language arts or writing. Hence, it’s most effective for building a solid base in core knowledge, but practical writing and social activities are on the parents’ side.

For instance, this Power Homeschool curriculum review on TrustPilot highlights that if something is a bit complex, the student can hit the rewind button or rewatch the lesson as many times as they need. 

Another parent was delighted to share their kid’s performance results (all As!), the same year they started using the platform’s classes.  

⭐It’s 9/10 stars. I actually haven’t encountered any reviews of Power Homeschool reporting being totally ineffective.  

Therefore, it is effective indeed, but consider your kid’s subject. I mean, maybe for ELA, opt for something more recognized (I’ll cover the alternatives below). 

Power Homeschool services reviews: Customer support

Power Homeschool services reviews on customer support report multiple complaints on one side and a decent level of satisfaction on the other. Some parents highlight total unresponsiveness, while others managed to solve their issues in a couple of hours or 1 day at the latest. 

Judge for yourself. This family, which had issues with access to their account, had even to cancel their subscription because customer support failed to help them. At all. 

And yet another Trustpilot review of Power Homeschool describes a pretty enjoyable customer service experience, clearly demonstrating the team members’ genuine engagement. 

⭐It’s 6/10 stars. Far too many negative comments just (well, fairly) don’t allow for a higher rating. AI, bots, and multiple tutorials are a must these days. But nothing, just nothing, compares to individual human interaction and proper communications. 

Power Homeschool is really good at making tutorials, to which they repeatedly redirect their users for any issue. But human and responsive customer support is something their target audience does need and has been constantly bringing this up. 

Is Power Homeschool’s price reasonable?

At $79 to $99 a month, it’s a bit more than some other options out there. However, many reviews on Power Homeschool prove that parents find it reasonable. All because it includes over 250 courses and handles all the grading for you.

Unlike many other platforms that have confusing ‘levels’ or complicated tiers, Power Homeschool keeps things very simple. They don’t offer a free trial, but they also don’t lock you into long-term contracts either. Everything is handled through a month-to-month subscription that you can cancel whenever life gets busy or your plans change.

Power Homeschool cost

• The Standard monthly plan. For $99 per month, one student gets access to up to 6 courses at a time. This covers everything. I mean, the video lessons, the system that does all the grading, and the tools that track your child’s progress.
• The Scholarship monthly rate. Most families actually pay a bit less. Using the Roger Billings Scholarship drops the price to $79 a month. To keep this lower price, your kid just needs to watch a weekly ‘Science Live’ lecture online.
• Annual cost estimate. If you stick with their programs for the whole school year, you’re looking at about $948 to $1,188 per year (no ‘pay-up-front’ annual discount). 

Remember that these prices are for the unaccredited curriculum. If you decide you need the accredited version – i.e., Acellus Academy – the price jumps noticeably. It’s often $249/month or more because you’re paying for official transcripts, teacher support, and a diploma.

Power Homeschool reviews 2025 price rise

I’d like to mention some reviews for Power Homeschool separately, repeatedly showing customers’ shock when they received a notice about a price rise in 2025. It’s not only the rise that shocked them, but it’s also about when and how they were notified about it.  

4x increase with 3-day notice, reports this review on TrustPilot. Well, I understand why, after the school year had started, it caught families with multiple children (especially) completely off guard.

I bumped into this Trustpilot feedback, as well as many other reviews Power Homeschool commenting on the same issue, and just couldn’t help mentioning it in my unbiased review.   

⭐7/10 stars. If not for this unpleasant incident, the ranking would’ve been much higher. 

Considering all the ‘extras’ – like the library of over 250 courses and the automatic grading – a starting price of $79 to $99 per month is quite competitive. But be ready that everything may change at any moment, literally.
