Abigail Basilio

Abigail Basilio, a licensed teacher with three years’ experience teaching English to elementary students, joined Brighterly as a tutor for K-5, assisting students in building foundational reading skills and a love of storytelling.

Education and Professional Skills

Concepcion Holy Cross College is where Abigail earned her Bachelor of Elementary Education degree in 2023. She became a Licensed Professional Teacher the following year, in 2024, and finished a TEFL Certificate in 2026.

Reading D.I.S.C. training rounds out her credentials. So do several professional development courses in Early Childhood Education, which sharpened her skills in English language teaching and child-centered learning.

Abigail Basilio’s Experience Before Brighterly

Recognized as “Best in Teaching Demonstration” during a six-month internship at a public school, Abigail also tutored students at home while she prepared for the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

For two years, she taught English to Kindergarten through Grade 6 students at Montesun Academy of Concepcion Tarlac Inc. Somewhere in that stretch, she also coached Quiz Bee, led school activities, and sat in on seminar after seminar to keep building her craft.

Now she brings all of that into her work at Brighterly as a Reading, ELA, and Writing tutor.

“A teacher’s greatest achievement is helping students discover their potential.”

I make long stories approachable through visualization and confident self-expression. I help students write freely first, then shape their ideas into structured pieces.

Current Activities and Approach to Students

Long stories get shorter in Abigail’s hands, as she’s simplifying what’s dense, so students can actually follow it. Visualization plays a big part here. She wants students expressing what they took from a text, past the point of a plain summary.

Writing works the other direction. First, the ideas come out, messy and unfiltered. Only after that does Abigail help a student organize them into something structured. Personal experience tends to be the hook that keeps a student engaged through the whole process.

Feedback stays constructive throughout. Children hear what to improve without walking away discouraged.
