Angeluz L. Ruelo’s Experience Before Brighterly
Before Brighterly, Angeluz was a public school math teacher and a Language Assessor, assessing the answers of the students to their English Language Exams. She was also an ESL teacher within the same company, handling Middle School and High School Students in Japan through a 1-on-1 online setup. Currently, Angeluz combines tutoring at Brighterly with teaching Math and English subjects for Grades 7-10 in the local school.
Now that she has joined Brighterly, she’s committed to bringing her broad expertise to help students master missing concepts and build math confidence from lesson 1.
“What led me to Brighterly is the ability to create customized learning experiences and help as many children as I can. ”
The platform connects me with struggling students who can’t find their footing in math. For them, the hardest part is getting started — at Brighterly, this step is easy. Whatever their learning style, skill level, and pace are, the pairing system does the work, so we can start making progress on day 1. This is why I find Brighterly especially helpful.
Current Activities and Approach to Students
Angeluz has been a public school teacher for 5+ years, which has given her deep insights into how students learn and where they need the most support. She pinpoints learning gaps easily and creates a learning plan in line with a student’s learning loss.
Angeluz enjoys supporting students of different learning levels, from beginners who need a strong foundation in mathematics to intermediate learners who want to improve their understanding and confidence. Angeluz guides students through homework, school assignments, curriculum gap-filling, quizzes, and test prep. Her teaching philosophy is:
- To break math concepts into simple, practical steps — never overwhelm the student with information they’re not ready for.
- Every student deserves interactive learning, never a wall of text.
“What makes me happiest as a teacher is seeing students become confident in math and feel like they’re capable of solving anything on their own.”
As a teacher, I don’t want my students to depend on me. My goal is to make them solve problems independently, without any help. This is how I know the sessions are effective.
Backed by 5+ years of school experience, teaching both Math and English, Angeluz is determined to help every student see their potential. She continues to expand her expertise and find new ways to make students successful.
