Hannah Zhyl Araneta is a young but skilled math tutor with over 3 years of experience teaching Elementary Math, Pre-Algebra & Algebra, and Geometry. She joined the Brighterly team as a Grades 1–10 tutor, helping learners build strong math foundations and a natural curiosity for math.

Hannah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics (Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics) from West Visayas State University.
Hannah Zhyl Araneta’s Experience Before Brighterly
Originally a violinist, Hannah started to tutor as a 12th grader, teaching violin in a music studio. Though music has always been her passion, she decided to pursue a mathematical career. In 2023, after earning her degree in Applied Mathematics, she started tutoring math. She did face-to-face tutoring with her students, where parents were mostly present, so they were easily informed of our progress every session.
Hannah assisted students with homework and school assignments, specific learning gaps, and test prep.

With 3 years of experience under my belt, I saw that students were unhappy with the school's math. Endless tests, no explanations and constant pressure took the best of them. At Brighterly, we aim to reshape these experiences. With interactive tools and highly personalized learning plans, students finally feel relaxed and ready to take on a challenge. As a tutor, I also feel very supported by Brighterly’s educational team.
Current Activities and Approach to Students
Hannah is a skilled math tutor who works with students who struggle with foundational math. She also supports advanced students, drawing on her own experience as a strong student to guide those who want to go further in math.
Now, Hannah brings her expertise and experience to help students begin gaining math skills in a safe, positive environment. Her approach to teaching math is:
- Build a trusting relationship with your students.
- Textbooks and drills aren’t the best way to teach math. Math is learnt through experimenting and understanding how the concepts work

I also love how the curriculum is developed by award-winning teachers and subject-matter experts, but it’s also flexible and adapts to each kid’s needs. Every day that I teach, I see children progress, and it’s super rewarding for me.
