Rezan Mae A. Alferez
Rezan Mae A. Alferez is a licensed tutor with four years of experience in ESL and reading instruction. Most of her one-on-one lessons were with Japanese learners, ranging from young children to working adults.
She got a Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) teaching license and a TEFL certificate. At Brighterly, as a Reading and ELA tutor, she is focusing on comprehension, vocabulary, and reading confidence.

In 2022, Rezan earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, majoring in General Content, from St. Louise De Marillac College of Bogo.
Her PRC license and TEFL certificate qualify her to teach reading, grammar, and vocabulary to students at different ages and skill levels.
Rezan Mae A. Alferez’s Experience Before Brighterly
The lessons Rezan taught were not exactly the same, since her students ranged from young kids to working adults. She taught English one-on-one to Japanese students for almost four years. She built lessons around her students’ speaking, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation goals.
She also kept parents in the loop through lesson summaries and progress updates, and tracked growth with ongoing assessments, observation notes, and individualized learning plans.

Current Activities and Approach to Students
At Brighterly, Rezan is building students’ reading confidence and a lasting interest in books. By connecting stories to a student’s existing interests, she avoids teaching repetitive material.

She works with age-appropriate texts, fiction, non-fiction, interactive materials, exposing students to different genres and points of view. Young learners look at characters, talk through plot events, predict what happens next, share their own take on the reading.
Rezan includes discussion and hands-on activities to help students build vocabulary, comprehend, think critically, analyze information. The lessons include grammar practice, vocabulary worksheets, speaking, and homework assistance, as well as creative writing activities, such as essays and short stories, which help students develop their reading skills even further.
