Susan Bangloy Palacio’s Experience Before Brighterly
Before Brighterly, Susan had an extensive background in supporting and mentoring students both in classrooms and 1:1. Susan guided students through homework assignments and provided extra worksheets to help them adopt new skills as fast as they could; as a consequence, students developed a strong learning mindset.
Now, equipped with her wide-ranging experience in math teaching, she joins the Brighterly team.
“What inspired me to join Brighterly is that it adapts exactly to where students are. ”
While schools don't really have the resources to individualize for every student, Brighterly recognizes that learning is shaped by differences in ability, pace, and learning style. Brighterly doesn’t just make assumptions about what students have to learn. They track where students are stuck, build a curriculum around gaps, and respond to their needs.
Current Activities and Approach
Susan combines experience as both a school educator of 21 years and a one-on-one tutor who develops personalized learning strategies to support each student’s growth. This combination allows her unique insights into what students miss at school and how to effectively bridge those gaps in 1:1 lessons.
Today, Susan brings her knowledge and experience to help Brighterly students improve grades, learning confidence, and cultivate a positive attitude toward math. Her teaching philosophy is:
- Math shouldn’t feel like a chore. It’s a tool helping children understand the world around them and think critically about it.
- Effective lessons make students think, not memorize concepts they forget before the next session.
“I guide students through their homework and extra practice until the concepts really lock in.”
When we ask the right questions, build trust, and get to the heart of where students are getting stuck, learning clicks. Math is confusing — my job is to make it approachable.
Drawing on 22 years of classroom experience, Susan is ready to meet students where they are and become their supportive math mentor. She keeps growing as an educator by exploring modern teaching methods. Susan is committed to ongoing learning herself, pursuing professional development as an educator.
