Jessica Kaminski
Jessica Kaminski is one of the very first certified math tutors at Brighterly. She has over 10 years of experience as a tutor for children.
Education and professional skills
Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Ostrava in 2012.
She completed a Master’s program in Mathematics that focused on both theoretical and applied math principles. This program was designed to deepen students’ understanding and knowledge of math, covering a wide range of topics from pure mathematics to applied science that intersect with computer sciences.
Jessica’s experience before Brighterly
Jessica’s experience began as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher at PragueTutors (a platform for tutoring math and science) from 2013 to 2016.
Afterwards, she was a Mathematics Science Tutor for over 4 years in the 1-on-1 online format for students in grades 1-8 from across the United States.
This experience was pivotal in Jessica’s career. It helped her understand primary students’ goals and pain points and thus hone her many tutoring techniques, thanks to which her students succeeded in turning in their homework assignments on-time, tackling more challenging topics, and so on.
Math expert and author Jessica believes that incorporating an interactive approach to learning math can not only help kids understand complex topics faster but also results in your child falling in love with math.
Jessica was a Curriculum Consultant in 2021 at GAME ON – an educational nonprofit organization. Her special expertise helped her organize educational projects for children in an interactive, play-based format. Jessica is convinced that the greatest outcomes can be achieved in the format of a game by implementing interactive classes.
Current activities and approach to students
Jessica is currently a math tutor at Brighterly and is the author of a dozen Brighterly blog articles that are useful for children and their parents. She always brings her special approach to teaching and to writing educational content.
Jessica’s activities are not just a career, but a calling
People often ask Jessica about her work: why she made this choice in her life, why math, and tutoring children? When answering, she always recalls a well-known quote:
“Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”
So for me, this is a vocation. I love opening up math to children from an unexpected angle. I love to see the twinkle in their eyes, and I love to watch their growth. My journey has been about more than just teaching; it’s about cultivating love for mathematics and demonstrating its real-world applications.
Through authoring Brighterly blog articles and her involvement in child psychology, homeschooling, and curriculum consultation for schools and EdTech websites, Jessica’s expanded her impact beyond the classroom.
Her approach is rooted in making math accessible and enjoyable so that every learner can grasp complex concepts and apply them in their lives.
